A query was raised to consider why Gary Hanmer was running Lockdown Lass (GB) here at Nottingham on going described as Good to Firm, Good in places, having reported that the filly would have preferred an easier surface following its last run at Doncaster on 22 April 2022, on going with the same official description where Lockdown Lass (GB) finished unplaced, beaten by 8½ lengths.
The trainer stated that he was hoping for some rain prior to the race which did not materialise but was still happy for the filly to take its chance today stepping up in trip to 1 mile from 7 furlongs in a race which he anticipated to be run at a pace to better suit Lockdown Lass (GB).
Leaving the stalls, Youarenotforgiven (GB), placed second, jumped left-handed at the same time as Trusty Scout (IRE), placed sixth, jumped right-handed leaving Maid Of Aragon (IRE), unplaced, briefly short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Youarenotforgiven (GB) or Trusty Scout (IRE).
Following the race, Adam West reported that Maid Of Aragon (IRE), unplaced, made a respiratory noise.
