he didn’t win last year but he was second and third here a few times and he’s always been thereabouts. He’s for the apprentices in the yard to ride and six or an easy seven (furlongs) suits him. The ground was just lovely for him today.

It's great for the young fella and great for the missus (wife Amanda) who bred him. We have a lovely Raven's Pass half-brother being broken at the moment. He broke well and there is lovely fresh ground down the rail. He just kept him happy and I thought the horse fought them off well but I thought we were just going to be caught on the line.

I'm delighted for the young lad, it's his third ride. He works hard in the yard. He's a local lad and is trainer Micky Cleary's son. I'm delighted with that, my wife Amanda bred the horse so she'll be happy. It's the second win for the little horse and we have a half-brother by Raven's Pass going to the sales. He doesn't like the wind and having it behind him was the best thing for him. He rode a grand race and I loved the way he fought back at the finish.

My wife bred him so I'm delighted. We have a half-brother going to the sales at the end of the year and the dam (Susiescot) has bred two winners from two runners,. He's a tough, hardy, little fella and he's for the apprentices to ride. I have two apprentices signing on and he'll keep them going for the rest of the year. He's bomb-proof and loves his racing, hopefully he'll pay for himself.
