The concluding TRM Hoofmaker Handicap saw a first winner on his third ride for Jack Cleary aboard the 50/1 chance Mogwli
The Bungle Inthejungle 3-year-old was always in the firing line but looked vulnerable when Miacomet (13/2) came to challenge at the furlong pole.
The winner pulled out more, though, for his young rider to win by three quarters of a length, with the 11/4 favourite Pulse Of Shanghai two and a half lengths further back in third.
Mogwli was a winner on fast ground at Fairyhouse in June and showed versatility here by handling this rain-hit soft to heavy surface.
Winning trainer Willie McCreery said: “I'm delighted for the young lad, it's his third ride. He works hard in the yard. He's a local lad and is trainer Micky Cleary's son.
“I'm delighted with that, my wife Amanda bred the horse so she'll be happy. It's the second win for the little horse and we have a half-brother by Raven's Pass going to the sales.
“He doesn't like the wind and having it behind him was the best thing for him. He rode a grand race and I loved the way he fought back at the finish.”
