Permission was given for Seneca Chief (GB) and Alfred Cove (GB) to wear a red hood to the start and Starjik (GB) to wear a red hood to the start and go early to post.
Beau Jardine (IRE) and Rules Of Order (IRE), both trained by John Bridger, did not enter the Parade Ring due to there being a late jockey change for Beau Jardine (IRE) and the trainer having two runners to saddle.
The winner, Starjik (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Great Yarmouth on 18 October 2022 where the gelding finished last of the fifteen runners, beaten by 11¾ lengths.
John Butler’s explanation that Starjik (GB) had appreciated the return to running over 6 furlongs at Kempton Park where the gelding had run well two starts back, was noted.
Starjik (GB) was routine tested.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start when Starshiba (GB), unplaced, ridden by Jason Watson, interfered with Beau Jardine (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Robert Havlin.
Watson was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed Starshiba (GB) to drift right-handed when insufficiently clear of Beau Jardine (IRE), causing Havlin to take a slight check.
Following the race, Robert Havlin reported that Beau Jardine (IRE), placed sixth, was slowly away and Dylan Hogan reported that Seneca Chief (GB), placed third, was slowly away.
