Permission was given for Symbol of Hope (GB) to go early to post wearing a red hood and to be mounted in the chute; for Madame Fenella (GB) to go early to post and to be mounted in the chute; for Birkenhead (GB) to go early to post and for Seneca Chief (GB) to wear a red hood to post.

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching 4 furlongs out when Cabeza De Llave (GB), placed second, ridden by William Carson interfered with Porfin (IRE), placed third, ridden by Molly Presland.

Being a 7lb Apprentice, Presland was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.

The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Cabeza De Llave (GB)’s placing as Porfin (IRE) was shuffled back to the rear of the field and had to re- balance after clipping the heels of Cabeza De Llave (GB) and stumbling, losing significant ground as a result, before then finishing strongly in the home straight and making approximately 3 lengths on Cabeza De Llave (GB) over the final 2 furlongs to be beaten by only a head and revised the placings as follows: First, POPDANCER (IRE); Second, Porfin (IRE); Third, Cabeza De Llave (GB); Fourth, Madame Fenella (GB).

Carson was suspended for 5 days for careless riding as he angled his mount left-handed towards the rail, into the path of Porfin (IRE) without being sufficiently clear, causing that gelding to clip heels and stumble.

The performance of Kim Wexler (IRE) which finished unplaced, was considered.

The representative of David Loughnane’s explanation that the filly was unsuited by being trapped wide throughout from stall 10 on this occasion, was noted.

Kim Wexler (IRE) was routine tested.

Following the race, Cam Hardie reported that Madame Fenella (GB), placed fourth, was denied a clear run on the run to the line.
