Permission was given for FILLE D’OR (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
Inside the final furlong, Sparkling Diamond (GB), placed seventh, rolled both ways when under pressure causing the rider of Ethel Rose (GB), placed eighth, to have to take a precautionary check, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Sparkling Diamond (GB).
The winner, Oakenshield (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Thirsk on 30 June 2021 where the gelding finished eleventh of fifteen, beaten by 7½ lengths.
Linda Stubbs’ explanation that Oakenshield (IRE) benefitted from the drop in grade to a 46-55 from a 0-60 Handicap on this occasion, was noted.
The gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Tom Marquand reported that FILLE D’OR (IRE), unplaced, stopped quickly.
