The Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr. T.V. O'Connell, Starter, in relation to a false start of this race. Evidence was heard from Mr. O'Connell, who stated that his finger slipped off the starting mechanism button when he attempted to start the race. He further stated that some horses had struck the gates and gone backwards and for this reason he felt it was in order to immediately call a false start. Having considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that in the circumstances the correct course of action was taken and that no further action was warranted
