I didn't particularly fancy him. He's a grand horse and had a bit of form. He'd a few runs in Galway that were okay. One of them was behind a horse of mine, Golden Sandbanks, and even that run was probably good enough to win this race. I'm not allowed ride him, but I rode him a few times and didn't like him too much!. He showed more in the race than he has been doing on the gallops. He stayed at it well and we just left everything (headgear) off him for his first run (for us). It wasn't a great race, but he got the job done. The Raceday Stewards granted a request from John C. McConnell, trainer of Hangry for an additional ten minutes to present his charge for identification to an IHRB Official in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 (i)

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after leaving the back straight involving Hangry, ridden by D.A Kidd, brought down, Circus Act, ridden by J. Kearney, unplaced, Neddies Boy, ridden by M.W Hassett who fell, and Kashi (FR), ridden by C.J. MacRedmond, unplaced, where it appeared Neddies Boy clipped a heal and fell. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D.A. Kidd stated that he was brought down and had no time to react. M.W. Hassett stated that his mount was travelling well in mid divison when the two horses in front of him came close together and he clipped a heal. He further added that he did not want the gap that was in front of him and he was never in it. J. Kearney stated that his mount drifted a small bit right under pressure. C.J. MacRedmond stated that he felt he kept a straight line the whole way. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Grann's Boy, trained by H.Rogers, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

An extended handicap for four years old and upwards rated 47-65
