He had been running in handicaps and had a high rating and this race came up and I realised he was eligible and away we went. He hung to the left a fair bit but he has a cut on his joint so it might have been that so we'll try and find another little rated novice hurdle. The Stewards interviewed D.F. O'Regan, rider of Mason Jar (FR), concerning his use of the whip in this race, following a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary officer, that the animal was found to be marked post race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.F. O'Regan was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive force. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account and allowing for mitigating circumstances, the Stewards suspended D.F. O'Regan for 1 raceday.
