B. Browne, rider of Kristian Goingwel trained by Oliver McKiernan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost his action after the fourth last hurdle

The Stewards met to consider the circumstances surrounding the pulling up of Castletown Quarry and the Veterinary input that followed. Evidence was heard from Aidan Bailey, Blue Cross, John O'Doherty and Larry Wall Racecourse Veterinary Surgeons and Eoin Griffin, trainer of Castletown Quarry. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the Veterinary Surgeons and the Blue Cross had carried out full and proper procedures before reaching a diagnosis on the injury sustained by Castletown Quarry. The Stewards also noted that Eoin Griffin accepted the manner in which the procedures were managed

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Kristian Goingwel, trained by Oliver McKiernan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards rated 80-109 that have not won a hurdle race before 29th April, 2018
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won.
