He won a hurdle race here as a young horse and likes this place. The ground is the key to him as it has been so dry and usually he'd be out on grass at this stage. He had a nice weight on his back, Shane gave him a dinger of a ride and it was a nice pot to win. We might keep going now and they are watering at Leopardstown and could go there next. He is a very consistent horse who dropped to a winnable mark and is owned by a good man, Tommy Ward.

He loved it and jumped great. A couple of times he was keen last year so we decided to drop him in to relax and he completely goes asleep,. When he’s ridden competitively like that he comes alive. We learned that the last day in Tramore where he just got beat, and we said we’d wait for this race as it’s his bracket for horses rated 109 or less (over hurdles). Hopefully he’ll give us a bit of fun over fences, and the fact that he won over 2m5f today means there are a few more options for him going a trip. I’m lucky to have Tommy Ward in the yard. He’s from Mountmellick and ever since he came to us he’s given the yard a great boost. Hopefully we’ll have a bit more luck for him.

That was great. He has climbed from 86 to 95 today. We'll see how far he can go. Mark said he handled the ground fine, it was the complete opposite to the last day. It's great that he handled soft ground today, it gives us more options,. He settled better today, my biggest fear was that he'd be keen on that ground. He was very keen the last day. If he keeps climbing it will be great, he might go for another handicap now after Christmas. He'll keep going the handicap route for the time being and we'll see how far we can go. The owner has been lucky for me. We've had four runners for him now and four winners. We could just keep climbing with him, or step him into a better handicap off a light weight. We'll see what is there for him. Two miles seems to be okay for him at the moment.

He had a low competitive mark off 86 and was well backed and we were hopeful of a good run and I thought Joseph's horse (Commandant) would take a lot of beating after last week. I thought we'd be an each-way price and the lads had a few quid on him each-way. He raced very fresh and I thought passing the stands we had no chance as he was too fresh but he kept going. He'll be ok for the winter ground but wouldn't be a glutton for heavy ground and we'll aim at another handicap next. It was unfortunate for Andrew Lynch who did all the schooling on him but got a fall schooling after racing yesterday. He had to go for an x-ray but he's ok. It was hard luck on him. It's great to get these horses from Tommy Ward, from Mountmellick, who is a good supporter and a good man to have in the game.
