The Sligo Institute Of Technology Chase went to the 4/6 favourite Jerandme who went on after the second last and came home twelve lengths to the good from the front-running Western Sea (13/2).
It was a seventh career win from 13 starts for Noel Meade’s Azamour gelding who’s had a fine year.
He’s won four of his last five starts, with a narrow defeat at the Curragh his only reverse in that time.
He’s now two from two over fences, having got off the mark at Kilbeggan in July, and this win came on the back of his win in the Ulster Cesarewitch at Down Royal earlier this month (now rated 81 on the Flat)
“He jumped great. I spoke to Sean Flanagan (suspended) and he said he’s settled down an awful lot.
“I’d say Sean was the making of him. He did exactly what Sean said. He settled, he was a good ride, jumped well, and he actually won with a bit of speed today.
“He could be improving. It was only his second start over fences, but I expected him to jump well coming from Noel Meade’s. It’s my first winner for Noel in a long time.
“I tucked him in second and I got a grand lead. He got into a great rhythm, maybe put down at one but he was clever.
"He wasn’t totally in love with the ground, it’s a bit cut up on the inner but he has plenty of class.
“He’s a slow-maturing horse who is progressing. He’s still a bit green but he had fair acceleration today and he won snug."
