in that ground they drop away as the race goes on and this horse was handling it. He won obviously in Limerick at Christmas time so we thought he would handle it and he got a good ride. He unseated the last day in Down Royal but he won impressively there and he'll be up in grade after that.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Encore Lui (FR), trained by Miss Elizabeth Doyle, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal
The Stewards interviewed B. Hayes, rider of Even Flight (FR), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that B. Hayes was in breach of Regulation 10.3(h)(arm above shoulder heigh) and having considered hid record, they suspended him for 1 raceday
At the request of the Stewards, Mr T.E. Doran, rider of Devil's Glen, trained by Keith Henry Clarke, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was keen early on, missed a few hurdles and stayed on one paced in the closing stages.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards (123 = 11st 10lbs)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap shall not be less than 11st 10lbs
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each hurdle race won.
