Koshari made the most of a drop in class when running out an impressive winner of the Suir Valley Chase at ClonmelThu 29th Mar
I had to run him back so quick as he came out of Limerick well. They went no gallop at Limerick, he found things so easy so I had to run him.Ã . He ran well in this race a few years ago and I liked him coming today as it was a small field and Mark (McDonagh) kept it simple. He toughed it out well and is really enjoying his racing.Ã The plan is to go to Thurles, over 2m6f, in 15 days time. We had this horse's grandam who I won two bumpers on (in 1996/7) and my uncle and cousins, who part-own this horse, have been involved with this pedigree forever and a day.Ã . Mark (McDonagh, owner) has just gone out foreign so has missed today, but I'm delighted for him and also for a cousin and part-owner Ellen O'Brien who had baby Lily a few days ago.

I fancied him going to Limerick but he jumped terrible down there. He missed the start and was never happy. I was very happy coming here today for the nice ground. The ground was gorgeous out there. Donagh gets a great tune out of him. He keeps things so simple on him and he jumps great for him. We were in the right place at the right time. We had a bit of luck at the last but it was wonderful. He deserved it as he's a good little horse. He may head to Leopardstown, depending on what mark he gets, on the Saturday for the 0-150 two-mile-one handicap chase. Otherwise we'll keep to these novice conditions races if we can.

It was brilliant to get it and he came back to his hurdles form when he won here. I thought on his hurdles rating he was over-priced,. At Cork it was just a simple novicey mistake and he fell but he was good today when he wanted him. There's a novice for him at Limerick over Christmas but I don't want to be bottoming him on real deep ground so we'll see. It's also my first winner since my mother Eileen passed away a few months ago. She was a big part of the team, so today was a welcome boost and we appreciate it.
