An enquiry was held to consider two incidents of interference inside the final 2 furlongs, involving Battleofbaltimore (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Rhys Clutterbuck, the winner, ALICE’S IMPACT, ridden by Jason Hart, Clotherholme (IRE), placed second, ridden by Rowan Scott, Entrecasteaux (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Jason Watson and Chat Up Line (GB), unplaced, ridden by David Allan.
In the first incident of interference, Clutterbuck was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed without sufficient correction causing both ALICE’S IMPACT and Clotherholme (IRE) to be taken off their intended lines, which in turn caused Entrecasteaux (IRE) to be crowded for room with the rider taking a significant check.
In the second incident of interference, Clutterbuck was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift further left-handed, giving a bump to ALICE’S IMPACT, moving it off its intended line which in turn moved both Clotherholme (IRE) and Chat Up Line (GB) off their intended lines.
It was considered that the second incident of interference occurred after Clutterbuck’s mount had already shown a tendency to hang left-handed.
Following the race, Jason Watson reported that Entrecasteaux (IRE), unplaced, suffered interference 1 ½ furlongs out, causing the gelding to become unbalanced and felt prudent to ease his mount in the closing stages; Rhys Clutterbuck reported that Battleofbaltimore (GB), placed fourth, hung left-handed.
