Jack Ryan, trained by John Ryan, finished third at Brighton the previous day.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a pre-race examination of the gelding deemed him fit to race.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference inside the final half furlong involving Jack Ryan (IRE), placed second, ridden by Tia Phillips, and Cappananty Con (GB), placed third, ridden by Rhys Clutterbuck.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Phillips was accompanied in the enquiry by John Ryan, the trainer of Jack Ryan (IRE).
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Jack Ryan (IRE)’s placing as Clutterbuck never had to stop riding, Cappananty Con (GB) appeared to lose little momentum, and the gelding was always held by the second placed horse with a head between them at the line.
Phillips was cautioned for careless riding for allowing her mount to drift right-handed away from the whip when Jack Ryan (IRE) had already shown a tendency to do so, causing Cappananty Con (GB) to be intimidated off its intended line.
Following the race, David Probert reported that Ghepardo (GB), placed eighth, stumbled leaving the stalls.
