we thought he'd win two runs ago and he let us down. I didn't put a saddle on him for ten days and when I saw that the entries were small for the race here on Monday I entered him and we rode him out on Monday afternoon. He hasn't had a gallop and we just left him mad fresh. I put plenty of wool around his head tonight! I put the cheekpieces on him tonight as in England he won with them on first time so I'd try a change. Six is probably his trip, he was off it early but stayed at it well then. He's tough and hardy and I think he'll even be better with a bit of juice in the ground. I might give him another week off, not ride him and try the same trick again. The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Lapilli (GB), trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, at the request of the Stewards and confirmed that the animal had blood on the nose as a result of exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage

S.M. Crosse, rider of Hedonism trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped out of the stalls slowly and at a later stage she hung left in the straight

Colgan, placed sixth, Lapilli (GB), ridden by R. Coakley, unplaced and Mr Shelby, ridden by D.P. Davis, unplaced, where it appeared that Lapilli (GB) ran short of room and checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S. Donohoe, trainer of Mr Shelby, accompanied D.P. Davis at this enquiry. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by D.P. Davis riding carelessly this being a breach of Rule 214. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned D.P. Davis

Under the provisions of Rule 90, the Stewards allowed Mr Shelby, trained by S. Donohoe, to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the error identified in the certification of vaccinations would be corrected in accordance with Rule 91 within the timeframe specified.
