Permission was given for Garth Rockett (GB) to be mounted in the chute and to go early to post; Garth Rockett (GB) wore earplugs throughout the race.
The winner, Diamond Dougal (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newbury on 23 October 2020 where the gelding finished eighth of ten runners, beaten by 14½ lengths.
Robert Cowell’s explanation that Diamond Dougal (IRE) had benefited from a drop in class to a Class 4, having previously contested a Class 3 was noted.
The gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Luke Morris reported that Garth Rockett (GB), which started favourite and finished eighth, jumped awkwardly from the stalls.
Silvestre De Sousa reported that Love Love (GB), unplaced, had no more to give; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination revealed the filly had an irregular heartbeat.
