The Donal Kinsella-trained gelding has shown plenty of promise here on his latest two starts including when just denied by Skontonovski over a mile last month. The Michael O’Callaghan-trained duo of Darkdeserthighway and Rockbury Lad are others to consider along with recent course and distance winner Higher Kingdom and Shining Aitch. Speckled Meadow is generally a model of consistency and well suited by soft ground on turf but didn’t show the same level of form previously on this surface.

He had difficulty in making a position in Clonmel, however, he stuck it well until 150 metres out. Today, he had a bad draw and got an excellent ride. He (Kevin Manning) got him out and got a position on him early which was very, very good. He's a long, long time riding now and I'm a long, long time trying to get him a winner! That's the first one for me. That's what makes the whole thing so enjoyable. Now we will come back, we are only up the road.

She deserved that. We came here a few evenings and it just probably didn't work out for her. They were very good runs. I think 'Dusty' got it very right this evening, we just said we would keep it simple and have a good go at it. In fairness to the filly, she produced the goods as well. She is training really well at home and we have been really happy with her. We said we would come back here for Christmas for the lads and it has worked out lovely.

It was a lovely ride by Jamie. He's a very frustrating horse, he's a horse that always had loads of ability. The year he was a two-year-old he was one of the best I had, but he got a fracture and then as a three-year-old got a fracture again. He always remembered. Races like that just need to work out for him, where he can be smuggled in and Jamie gave him a peach. The instructions were to ride him for luck and don't get there too soon. I was delighted for Jamie and for the lads who own him. They've persevered with him and he's a good fun horse. They are based in New York. It's only the second win of his life and he deserves to have had more. He wants neither extreme ground-wise and then he's grand for Dundalk during the winter. The handicapper has split his mark, so he's out of the 65s in Dundalk but we'll see what he does.

He has had a few problems and was running into form recently so delighted to get the right side of a close one there. He ran well in Gowran and ran well the previous day in Gowran so he had two goodish runs and, obviously, his handicap mark had dropped which gave him a chance anyway. Good to get him back here, hopefully there might be another one along the way. The race was set up well for him and I thought two down he might win snug but it got a bit slow then for a while, but he battled strong in the end.
