It might not have seemed that likely in the dip but as soon as he meets the rising ground, he grows another leg. Darragh knows him well and was very good on him. I was a bit worried about the ground but Darragh said it was no problem. I could never get him into a good race with a light weight and it was the same on the Flat. He’d a proper weight on his back today and there was a good gallop which suited him. His (late) owner Jerry Nolan was a pure gentleman. I rode winners for him and having an owner like him, you couldn’t buy them. He was easy to train for. This place has been good to me as a jockey and a trainer.

She has been a model of consistency, she ran an excellent race when she was second in Galway and is lovely-bred and locally owned by Newtown Anner Stud. It was great and Adam's (Lord, owner) two sons Adam and Jack have done a lot of work with her at home. One of the first horses I had in training Salford City, who Adam owned, got me going and it is nice to get another winner for him. She had a low weight and I thought she'd run alright as she was getting a stone off the favourite and had a good run at Dundalk the last day. She liked the ground and jumped well. She will win on the flat and will mix between hurdles and the Flat and we'll think about the Lartigue Hurdle (Listowel in September) for her. Jack (Kennedy) said they went no gallop and it didn't suit As Tears Go By. That probably played into Jordan's (Gainford) hands as the winner had Flat speed.

When we started with him as a two-year-old we thought he was the best two-year-old we had. He's bred to be a sprinter. In fairness to Robbie Colgan he rode him one day in Fairyhouse over a mile-and-a-half and rode him like that and just got touched off. He probably was a bit weaker last year than he is now. He belonged to Paul and Patricia Hunt and at the end of the year a few of them had to go as Paul had passed on. Albert (Dravins) asked me if there was anything worth buying and we always felt he was some good and that he could win a race somewhere. He jumps very well and he has improved. He stays very well. He keeps at it and I told Jamie if he was going well he was going too slow because he'd need to get the rest of them off the bridle and at it because he just keeps galloping. If you waited for them they'd go past him. I watched the race with Paul Flynn (trainer of runner-up The Truant) and Paul beating me and I was beating him, it was very funny. His owner's partner passed away last year and they are having a charity golf day and they are all over at that. I'm sure they are watching on TV. He's probably a horse for the two-mile-five race on the Saturday at Galway. We'll have to stay at two miles whatever we do on the Flat.

Dylan just said that he didn't help him because he doesn't like being boxed in and obviously with the draw, it was hard to get out. He probably likes a bit heavier ground. The boys like Galway and we will try and get into Galway this year, we missed it with a cut last year. He won in Thurles last year over two miles, so we have the option of the two-mile race in Galway. We'd love to get into the amateur race in Galway, but I think Dylan wants to keep him below and go another way!. The next race coming up is probably Killarney.
