Passing the 4 furlong marker, a free running Ideal Guest (FR), unplaced, shifted left-handed to avoid heels and in doing so, carried both the winner, Wild Mountain (IRE) and Level Up (IRE), unplaced, off their intended lines, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Wild Mountain (IRE), compared with its previous run at Newmarket on 20 October 2021 where the colt finished eleventh of sixteen runners, beaten by 12 lengths was considered.
The representative of Paul and Oliver Cole reported that Wild Mountain (IRE) had benefited from the application of first-time cheekpieces on this occasion.
His comments were noted and the colt was routine tested.
Following the race, Tom Queally reported that Ideal Guest (FR), unplaced, ran too freely and Jim Crowley reported that Level Up (IRE), unplaced, hung left-handed.
