Robbie Power gave Duers a well-judged hold up ride to run out a cosy winner here.

He moved closer rounding the bend and went second running to the last. He mastered the leader Sandyzar on the run-in to land the spoils.

The winner has been on the go all winter and is a credit to connections. He was defying a 6lb rise for his win at Wexford last month. Another success could be well on the cards.

Runner-up Sandyzar showed plenty of guts to beat off a series of challengers early in the straight but had no answer to the winners surge.

It was a solid effort in his first handicap hurdle and he could be placed to success.

Plunge had shown ability in maiden hurdles before Christmas and ran well on his return on his handicap debut.

He moved closer turning in and was fourth at the second last. He stayed on without getting at the leaders.

El Jo had shown little when returning to timber here last time but this was a much more encouraging effort. Second turning in, he just faded out of it going to the last.

Francis Du Mesnil, a gamble here two starts ago, once again fell when the money was down (11/2 to 3/1).

He was moving into touch when giving Davy Russell a heavy fall at the third last.

Pink Suitcase (7/2), backed in the morning (6/1 to 3/1), proved a disappointment and never got into contention.
