Permission was given for Control (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
The Clerk of the Scales objected to Control (GB), ridden by Molly Presland, and trained by John Butler, on the grounds of the rider weighing in at 7st 13lbs, having weighed out at 9st 12lbs.
The rider, the representative of the trainer and the Clerk of the Scales were interviewed.
Presland’s explanation that her weight cloth had fallen off approximately 2 furlongs was accepted.
Control (GB) was disqualified and the placings were revised as follows: First – Temur Khan (GB), Second – Alodia (GB), Third – Broad Appeal (GB) and Fourth – Cloudy Rose (GB).
Tommie Jakes, the rider of Lady Clemmie (GB), placed fifth, had appeared to use his whip contrary to the Conditions of the race.
Jakes was accompanied in the enquiry by a BHA Jockey Coach.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, was suspended for 7 days for improper riding.
