The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Taj Mahal, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed third and Captain Hardship (USA), ridden by S.B. Kelly, placed fourth, where it appeared Taj Mahal suffered interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards gave the benefit of the doubt to S.B. Kelly and took no further action. The Stewards enquired into an incident at the end of the back straight involving Captain Hardship (USA), ridden by S.B. Kelly, Lancaster Bomber (USA), ridden by D. O'Brien, Miss Qatar, ridden by K.J. Manning, and Switch In Time, ridden by P.J. Smullen, where it appeared Miss Qatar suffered interference, resulting in Captain Hardship and Switch In Time having to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion D. O'Brien was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having taken his record into account, they suspended him for 1 raceday.
