Permission was given for I Am The Sea (GB) and Exceedingly Sonic (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Passing the one-furlong marker the winner, Benjamin Bear (IRE) edged slightly left away from the whip marginally intimidating Exceedingly Sonic (GB), placed fourth, off its intended line.
However, after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Benjamin Bear (IRE).
The winner, Benjamin Bear (IRE), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Leicester on 23 May 2022, where the gelding finished eighth of fourteen, beaten by 7 ½ lengths.
Alan King explained that the gelding’s previous run over this course and distance was his first run on turf and that the gelding had improved from the experience was noted.
Benjamin Bear (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race Richard Kingscote reported that Cap Dramont (GB), unplaced, stopped quickly; Sean Kirrane reported that Malcolm (GB), placed sixth stopped quickly and William Buick reported that Salonica (GB), placed fifth, ran flat.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Malcolm (GB) had lost its left fore shoe.
