Permission was given for Shimmering Sands (GB) to wear a red hood in the preliminaries which was removed at the start.
Golden Sands (IRE) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
The Stewards noted that Ben Curtis, the rider of End Zone (GB), placed third, had failed to ride out inside the final 2 furlongs.
Having received a report from Curtis and the Racecourse Doctor that this was due to a suspected injury to his right arm, no further action was taken.
An enquiry was held to consider interference 1 furlong out when Devilwala (IRE), placed second, ridden by Oisin Orr, interfered with Motarajel (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Duran Fentiman.
Orr was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift right without sufficient correction, causing Fentiman to be caught on heels and take a check.
The performance of Golden Sands (IRE) which finished unplaced, was considered.
The representative of Mark Johnston could offer no explanation for the colt’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Duran Fentiman reported that Motarajel (GB), placed fourth, suffered interference 1 furlong out.
