Permission was given for Precision Storm (GB) to wear a red hood in the preliminaries.
The winner, Polyphony (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 4 December 2020 where the mare finished eighth of ten, beaten by 13½ lengths.
John Mackie’s explanation that Polyphony (IRE) had benefited from being ridden more positively and settling better from a good draw on this occasion was noted.
The mare was routine tested.
Following the race, Liam Keniry reported that Glendevon (USA), unplaced, lost its action; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination found the gelding to have bitten its tongue.
