An enquiry was held to consider interference after the second last hurdle involving Mystic Sky (GB), placed second, ridden by Maxime Tissier and Adjutant (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Richard Johnson.
The interference was found to be accidental as Mystic Sky (GB) had lugged quickly left-handed away from Pershing (GB), placed fifth, causing Adjutant (GB) to be hampered when carried off its intended line, which then resulted in Johnson being unable to avoid hitting a section of dolled off railing.
Rounding the final bend, Teqany (IRE), placed third, hung badly left despite the rider’s best efforts to correct, causing Pershing (GB), placed fifth, to be steadied when tightened for room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Teqany (IRE).
The performance of Swaffham Bulbeck (IRE), which finished seventh of eight finishers, was considered.
Olly Murphy explained that the gelding ran too free and would benefit from a break.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Swaffham Bulbeck (IRE) during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Paddy Brennan reported that Teqany (IRE), placed third, hung left throughout.
Sean Bowen reported that Ravenous (GB), placed sixth, made a noise in the home straight and the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding was displaying symptoms of post-race heat stress.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Mystic Sky (GB), placed second, lost its left fore shoe.
