On leaving the stalls the winner, A SURE WELCOME, jumped badly left-handed interfering with LADWEB, placed second, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involve and that it had not improved the placing of A SURE WELCOME.
Ryan Tate, the rider of ASURE WELCOME, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse jumping badly left-handed from the stalls. After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident Tate's explanation that A SURE WELCOME put his head down as the gates opened and he couldn't reach the blindfold on the first occasion, was noted.
