Permission was given for Whatwouldyouknow (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and to go early to post and for Servo (IRE) to go early to post.

Upon leaving the stalls, Kendergarten Kop (IRE), placed sixth, jumped very awkwardly and shifted sharply right-handed, carrying Critical Thinking (IRE), placed fifth, onto Highest Mountain (FR), placed eighth, which was crowded for room and in turn caused Servo (IRE), placed second, to be hampered but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

For some distance approaching 5 furlongs out, a free running Universal Effect (GB), unplaced, hung right- handed inconveniencing Steal The Scene (IRE), placed fourth, when carrying it wider on the course, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

Inside the final furlong, a weakening Highest Mountain (FR), placed eighth, shifted right-handed, briefly hampering Steal The Scene (IRE), placed fourth, which became unbalanced as a result before then itself shifting quickly left-handed, away from Broken Rifle (GB), placed third, causing Highest Mountain (FR) to be checked and in turn bump with Kendergarten Kop (IRE), placed sixth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

Inside the final ½ furlong, the winner Whatwouldyouknow (IRE), edged left-handed intimidating Servo (IRE), placed second, off its intended line but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Whatwouldyouknow (IRE).

Following the race, Edward Greatrex reported that Universal Effect (GB), unplaced, hung badly right- handed and was unsteerable; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Tom Eaves reported that Highest Mountain (FR), placed eighth, stopped quickly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than the gelding lost its left-fore shoe.
