Permission was given for Heure de Gloire (FR) to go early to post.
Metier (IRE), trained by Harry Fry, was late in the Parade Ring due to difficulty with fitting the tongue tie and other runners exiting the Parade Ring at the same time preventing the gelding from entering.
Zambezi Fix (FR), trained by Bernard Llewellyn, was late in the Parade Ring due to receiving the saddle late and other runners exiting the Parade Ring at the same time preventing the gelding from entering.
Thibault (GB), trained by Adam West, was late in the Parade Ring due to difficulty with fitting the tongue tie and other runners exiting the Parade Ring at the same time preventing the gelding from entering.
The performance of Metier (IRE), which was pulled up, was considered.
The Stewards noted Sam Twiston-Davies’ explanation that the gelding hung badly left-handed throughout and as a result was unsteerable.
He added that he felt something was amiss with Metier (IRE) so felt it prudent to pull up the gelding.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Metier (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Benson (GB), placed fourth, had lost its right fore shoe.
