An enquiry was held into the start of this race.
The Starters and Tom Marquand, the rider of Dame Freya Stark (GB), were interviewed and shown recordings of the Start.
The Starter reported that Dame Freya Stark (GB) had broken out of the stalls prior to him pushing the button to start the race, at which point he immediately called a false start.
All riders were able to pull up immediately and return to the start, as required in the recall procedures and having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon all horses were deemed fit to race.
Dame Freya Stark (GB) was withdrawn by the Starter for breaking out of stalls and, as such, the representative of Mark Johnston was informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
Being satisfied that the recall procedures were carried out correctly, the Stewards took no further action.
The winner, Sea Battle (FR), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Yarmouth on 12 June 2019 where the gelding finished fifth of 12, beaten by 12 ½ lengths.
The representative of Jane Chapple-Hyam reported that the Sea Battle (FR) had appreciated the return to the all-weather; the gelding was routine tested.
