Permission was given for Kaser (IRE) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner Sea Fox (IRE), ridden by Clifford Lee interfered with Mickey (IRE), placed second, ridden by Richard Kingscote.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of Sea Fox (IRE) as the gelding came from behind, was in front when the interference occurred and was always holding Mickey (IRE), with the official winning distance being ½ a length.
Lee was suspended for 2 days for careless riding for allowing his mount to drift right under a left-handed drive for some distance, which resulted in Mickey (IRE) receiving a significant bump approaching the winning post.
Following the race, Ben Curtis reported that Al Hayette (USA), unplaced, hung right-handed off the bend and Tom Marquand reported that Almufti (GB), which started favourite and finished last of the eleven runners, hung right-handed throughout; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
