Permission was given for Riot (IRE) and Signcastle City (IRE) to wear a red hood to post; Thapa VC (IRE) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
The winner Riot (IRE) appeared to show improved form compared with its run at York on the 14 June 2024, where the gelding finished tenth of sixteen runners beaten 9½ lengths.
The representative of David O’Meara could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improvement on this occasion.
Riot (IRE) was routine tested.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the final furlong involving Signcastle City (IRE), placed second, ridden by Sam Hitchcott and Leap Day (GB), unplaced, ridden by Sean Kirrane.
Hitchcott was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed, without sufficient correction, causing Kirrane to take a slight check on the weakening Leap Day (GB).
Following the race, Faye McManoman reported that Roundhay Park (GB), unplaced, jumped awkwardly out the stalls and Joanna Mason reported that Starshiba (GB), placed fifth, was denied a clear run for some distance approaching and passing 1½ furlongs out.
