Permission was given for Smarden Flyer (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Rounding the final bend, Hold The Press (IRE), unplaced, hung badly right-handed causing Oriental Lilly (GB), unplaced, on its outside to run wide around the bend, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The winner, Divine Messenger (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Lingfield on 11th February 2023 where the gelding finished eleventh of twelve runners, beaten by 11 ¾ lengths.
The representative of Emma Owen explained that Divine Messenger (GB) had benefited from racing in a better a position on this occasion, having raced wide throughout on its previous run.
His explanation was noted and the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, William Carson reported that Cappananty Con (GB), unplaced, ran too freely and Joe Bradnam reported that Hold The Press (IRE), unplaced, ran too freely and hung right-handed off the final bend.
