Permission was given for Highbank (IRE), Bluelight Bay (IRE) and Coco Jack (IRE) to wear a red hood to post and for Royal Dubai (FR) to wear a hood in the parade ring.

The raceday privilege request in relation to Royal Dubai (FR), trained by Marco Botti, to wear a hood in the parade ring, was late being submitted.

Botti was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that all raceday privilege requests are submitted by 1pm on the day before racing.

The Starter reported that SNIPER’S EYE (FR) was unruly in the stalls and withdrawn at 2:51pm.

David Simcock was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.

The winner, HIGH BANK (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Ascot on 22 June 2023, where the gelding finished 24th of 29 runners, beaten 41 ½ lengths.

It was noted that Charlie Appleby had no explanation for the gelding’s improved form, other than it may have appreciated a return to Newmarket, where it has performed well in the past.

HIGH BANK (IRE) was routine tested.

Following the race, Callum Shepherd reported that Coco Jack (IRE), placed fifth, hung right-handed under pressure, Kieran Shoemark reported that Lose Your Wad (IRE), placed sixth, hung left-handed and Eve Johnson Houghton reported that Bluelight Bay (IRE), unplaced, was unsuited by the going, officially described as Good to Soft on this occasion and would prefer a quicker surface.
