he’d been knocking on the door and you’d be hoping he hadn’t missed his chance. He was consistent last year and then got a knee injury and it took him a while to come back. We always thought he wanted two and a half but maybe a stiff two miles suited him. I’m delighted for the bunch of lads that own him, footballers from Clogherhead. He’ll go for something similar. The Stewards enquired into possible interference rounding the final bend involving Fou Diligence, ridden by T.N

Brett, placed first, Djasek (FR), ridden by L.A. McKenna, placed fourth and Mc Alpine, ridden by J.P. O'Sullivan, placed third, where it appeared that Djasek (FR) ran short of room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. L.A. McKenna stated that his mount was travelling well at the time of the incident but ran short of room and was forced to check. T.M. Brett stated that his mount was running one width of the rail at all times and felt that he had not contributed to the incident. J.P 'O'Sullivan stated that his mount was travelling well on the approach to the final bend when half a length up on Djasek, he said the horse in front of him slowed up slightly causing him to move slightly towards the rail in order to avoid clipping heels which caused the incident. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the incident was accidental. They therefore made no alteration to the Judge's placings and took no further action

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that T.N. Brett was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record they cautioned him on this occasion

An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 80-109
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 12st and the minimum weight shall not be less than 9st 12lbs
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each hurdle race won.
