The Stewards requested a report from David M.O'Brien, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Double Windsor, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Garrett Power, representative for David M. O'Brien stated that the reapplication of blinkers coupled with todays better ground had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation given. Furthermore, The Stewards, pursuant to the provisions of Rule 147(v) fined David M. O'Brien €130 for failing to lodge the appropriate authorisation form appointing a representative
The Stewards interviewed Mr C. J. Shine, rider of Top Question, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that Mr. C. J. Shine was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g, excessive frequency. Having considered Mr. C. J. Shine's record in this regard the Stewards cautioned him on this occasion
