Permission was given for Cadeo (GB) to go early and be led to post.

Ryan Tate, the rider of Diamonds And Rust (GB), drawn 9, had appeared to not keep straight from the stalls.

After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, the rider was suspended for 1 day.

An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Sir Oliver (IRE), ridden by Shane Kelly and trained by Richard Hughes, which broke moderately from the stalls and settled midfield on the rails before staying on under a hands and heels ride in the home straight, to finish third of the eleven runners, beaten by 2¾ lengths.

The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the colt failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The rider stated that he had no specific instructions however, had hoped to be handy from stall 1 but was also conscious of getting the colt to relax.

He added that Sir Oliver (IRE) had settled a little further back than intended after jumping only fairly, and was inclined to run freely in the first 3 furlongs.

He further added that he had asked Sir Oliver (IRE) for its finishing effort from approaching two furlongs out and angled wide to obtain clear running, from which point the colt made ground before being briefly inconvenienced approaching the ½ furlong marker when Say It Simple (GB), shifted right handed in front of him.

Kelly explained that in his opinion Sir Oliver (IRE) had obtained the best possible placing, however the colt's effort had flattened out inside the final furlong, after doing too much through the early stages on its first run back from a break.
