An enquiry was held into the running and riding of La Trinidad (GB), ridden by Paula Muir and trained by Roger Fell which was slowly away before staying on strongly to finish sixth of eleven beaten 8? lengths.
The rider and the trainer's representative were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported a post-race examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated her instructions were that as the gelding had dwelt in its last two races, to get him settled and get him balanced and let him run his race.
She added that La Trinidad (GB) had developed a breathing problem and she felt it better to keep a hold of the gelding's head.
The trainer's representative stated she was satisfied that the ride accorded with the instructions given.
The Stewards found the rider and trainer had intentionally failed to ensure that their horse ran on its merits in that La Trinidad (GB) appeared capable of reaching a challenging position before being intentionally never asked to do so.
The matter was referred to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority and La Trinidad (GB) was suspended from running for 40 days.
Following the race, Shane Gray reported that Charmore (GB), unplaced, hung left.
