Permission was given for Final Orders (GB) to wear a hood in the parade ring; Two Bids (GB) wore earplugs which removed at the start.
The winner, Beyond The Clouds (GB), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Pontefract on 9 July 2019 where the gelding finished fifth of six, beaten by 20 lengths, on Good to Firm going.
Kevin Ryan’s explanation that Beyond The Clouds (GB) was suited by the step up in trip from 1m2f to 1m4f and benefited from the easier Good to Soft ground was noted.
Beyond The Clouds (GB) was routine tested.
Approaching the line, Navajo Pass (GB), placed second, hung quickly right taking Two Bids (GB), placed third, slightly off its intended line but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Navajo Pass (GB).
Following the race, Daniel Tudhope reported that Two Bids (GB), placed third, ran too freely, Andrew Elliott reported that ARCHIE’S SISTER, unplaced, was slowly away and Phil Dennis reported that Pound Off You (GB), unplaced, hung left throughout.
