An enquiry was held to consider interference entering the first bend involving Thriller's Moon (GB), placed fourth, ridden by William Carver, Lake Sand (IRE), placed seventh, ridden by Luke Morris, Critical Thinking (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Pat Cosgrave, Brazen Bolt (GB), placed third, ridden by Cieren Fallon and Al Simmo (GB), unplaced, ridden by Dougie Costello.
Costello was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift left-handed when insufficiently clear carrying Brazen Bolt (GB) onto Critical Thinking (IRE) and Lake Sand (IRE) which were both crowded for racing room and in turn caused Thriller's Moon (GB) to be hampered on the rail.
The winner Al Aresh (FR), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 2 October 2020 where the gelding finished tenth of twelve runners, beaten by 8¾ lengths.
The representative of David O’Meara explained this was only the gelding’s second start for the trainer and that it had settled far better on this occasion, compared with its previous start.
Their comments were noted and Al Aresh (FR) was routine tested.
Following the race, Jimmy Quinn reported that Lincoln Gamble (GB), unplaced, ran too freely and Dougie Costello reported that Al Simmo (GB), unplaced, lost its action; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly found it to be stiff behind, after having been struck into.
