An enquiry was held to consider why Simon Dow was running Emenem (GB) here at Sandown on going described as Good to Firm, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Salisbury on 26 June 2019 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that as the track has an uphill finish, the jar would be reduced and after speaking with the Clerk of Course, he was satisfied that enough watering had taken place to provide adequate cushioning, so was therefore happy for Emenem (GB) to take its chance today.
The performance of Ship Of The Fen (GB), which started favourite and finished eighth, was considered.
Ian Williams’ representative’s explanation that the gelding may have been unsuited by racing without cover was noted.
