Permission was given for Balgair (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
Prior to this race, the representative of William Muir and Chris Grassick was asked to explain the reason why they were running Data Protection (GB) here at Newmarket on going described as Good to Firm, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Ripon on 25 June 2021 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer’s representative stated that, in their opinion, the ground at Ripon was riding faster than the official description, but they were happy for Data Protection (GB) to take its chance on this occasion.
