Approximately 1 ½ furlongs out, Strait Of Hormuz (IRE), placed sixth, shifted quickly right away from the winner, Blue Cup (FR), carrying Hms President (IRE), placed fifth, off its intended line causing Franny Norton, the rider of Sky Defender (GB), unplaced, to steady his mount, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Jedd O'Keeffe reported that Strait Of Hormuz (IRE), placed sixth, was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Good to Soft, on this occasion.
