He struggled the last day over hurdles and it knocked the stuffing out of him. It took him a long time to recover and we said we'd come back and have a go at this, with the light weight and see,. The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Cu Roi, trained by John Joseph Murphy, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal

The Stewards requested a report from Ray Hackett, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Sequoiaspirit, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Ray Hackett stated that his charge has recently been disappointing on slower ground over hurdles and the return to better ground had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. The Stewards interviewed H.J. Horgan, rider of Rebel Ruler, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the regulation and apologised. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that H

J. Horgan was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g, excessive frequency. Having considered H. J. Horgan's record in this regard the Stewards suspended H. J. Horgan for seven racedays

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Secret Wizard, ridden by Ciara Flynn, and trained by Paul W

Flynn. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. Ciara Flynn, stated that her instructions were to jump out and sit where ever her mount was comfortable. She added that she was happy in front but someone was shouting to pull back which she did. Furthermore, she added that she is inexperienced and was quite tired in the closing stages and she felt she was pushing her mount out to the best of her ability. Paul W. Flynn, confirmed the instructions given and acknowledged that Ciara Flynn should be seen to make more of an effort in the closing stages. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Secret Wizard was post race normal. Samples were taken for further analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations given and took no further action other than to remind Ciara Flynn of her responsibilities to be seen to make more of an effort in the closing stages.

An extended handicap for three years old and upwards rated 45-65
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 10st 2lbs and the minimum weight shall not be less than 8st 6lbs
