That was a good, game effort. Early on (in his career) he was 55 lengths behind Envoi Allen so he's no fool. He has ability. Today I thought would have been a bit soft for him. Shane (Fitzgerald) gave him a good ride and is very good value for his 7lb. There was (plenty of money for him this morning), I probably started it but it wasn't all mine. I'm 85 in another three weeks but there will be no partying as I don't drink.

The Stewards interviewed B.P. Kennedy, rider of Larkhill Lady, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. B.P. Kennedy stated that his mount was stopping under him and in encouraging her to keep going he had lost count of his use through inexperience. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that B.P. Kennedy was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended B.P. Kennedy for one raceday.
