An enquiry was held into the withdrawal of DONNELLY’S RAINBOW (IRE), drawn 10.
The Starters and Phil Dennis were interviewed and shown recordings of the loading process.
The Starter explained that from his position on the rostrum he believed that DONNELLY’S RAINBOW (IRE) had hit the gates and broken out of the stalls resulting in the gelding being withdrawn.
He added that having reviewed a recording, it appeared that the opening of the gates may not have been caused by DONNELLY’S RAINBOW (IRE) and therefore decided that the gelding would not be required to pass a stalls test before its next run.
The Assistant Starter confirmed that all the starting gates were checked as per normal procedure prior to the start of this race.
Their explanations were noted.
The performance of Alfa McGuire (IRE) which finished eighth, was considered.
Phillip Makin could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
