An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner, Intuitive (IRE), ridden by P J McDonald, interfered with Ghaith (GB), placed fourth, ridden by James Doyle, who in turn interfered with Moraawed (GB), placed second, ridden by Dane O’Neill.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Intuitive (IRE)’s placing as the colt was always holding Ghaith (GB) and Moraawed (GB) and the momentum lost as a result of the interference was less than that of the official margins of ¾ lengths for Moraawed (GB) and 1 ½ lengths for Ghaith (GB).
The interference was found to be accidental as Intuitive (IRE) shifted quickly left causing Doyle to become momentarily tight for room and shift O’Neill slightly off his intended line.
Following the race, Rossa Ryan reported that True Belief (IRE), unplaced, ran too free.
