Jack said he would have done more at home and it was a nice school around for him,. It was a nice confidence booster after falling the last day. He jumped great there today. He'll have to head for one of those good novice hurdles now, whether it's this side of Christmas or not I don't know. Three miles won't bother him or he could go back to Navan in a few weeks time for one of those novice hurdles there because he didn't have a hard race there. He probably likes a bit of soft ground, the way he handled it there. Jack said when he gave him a squeeze after the second last he picked up very quickly.

We probably don't have to go three miles just yet. He's a big horse and he's had two runs now, so I might even keep him for (the January Grade 1 in) Naas. I don't want to go to the well too much, I think he is a nice horse.

We were confident enough turning in, he was only going through the motions and once he got the gap I was confident enough. He won well in the end. He'll keep tipping away, he loves that ground. It's very tough work and he probably sent him on plenty early today, I was giving out to him the last day for not making enough use of him!. He said he was idling in front and was never going to get beat. He's a big, raw horse and we might put cheek pieces on him the next day. He's very laid-back and you couldn't give him enough work. He's probably more of a chaser than a hurdler, he said when he's right he's good but when he's wrong he has no respect for hurdles. He'll maybe head straight for the Albert Bartlett now.

He would have been a very unlucky loser, but I suppose the loose horse also did him a little favour as he brought him out on the better ground. I had said to Jack to go wide and pick the best ground. This is a fair good horse and I did think he would win, although was worried about the gluey ground. He didn't jump early, but I told Jack to leave him asleep for as long as he could. He will be on the boat to Cheltenham in November for a graded novice. . His run behind Willie's (Mullins) High Class Hero at Listowel was a super run when Paul Townend probably just got a 'run' on Jack. He went on to win a Listed race at Limerick last week.

To be honest we thought he was overpriced, we knew he’d love the ground and he’s as tough as old nails. He stayed very well and Sam was good and positive. We were probably a little bit fortunate that the second horse missed the last as we’ve collared him on the line, but it was brilliant. I knew he was getting there, I just didn’t think he was getting there in time. To tell you the honest truth, I wasn’t going to run him. I was going to run Croke Park in the race and he was lame on Wednesday morning, so I brought this horse over late. I was going to send him to Aintree for a three-mile hurdle, so it shows what I know. He was bought to be a big chaser, that’s what he is. He’s a lovely horse. Sam is a big part of the team and I’m delighted for him.

He looked good, he jumped well apart from one,. I loved, from the last to the line, the way he put his head down and galloped. There is plenty of improvement in him. In fairness to Sean Doyle, he came well recommended. He has a very good association with the McNeills. He's a horse that doesn't show much at home but does it on the track. He might not be a horse for good ground but you'd like him, he has a great attitude. I thought it was a good performance because it wasn't a bad race.

It was a good performance. For a maiden, first time, she jumped very well and that brought me a lot of the way round. The second had some decent form pre-Christmas and I'd say for a small field it probably wasn't the worst maiden. They are two decent types and it's nice to get the job done with my one. Maidens first time are not normally that straightforward, even out in front on her own. If they were all like that it would be easy.
